2nd's 3 day Friendly v Kent at Canterbury
#1
12 man team for the Kent game at Canterbury today:-

J R Cox - I don't know a Cox in any of our squads (has anyone got info at all ?)
George Garrett
Logan Hughes - bowling (not in the batting lineup)
Matt Lamb
Alex Mellor
Tom Milnes
Dan Mousley
Liam Norwell
Alex Oxley
Ed Pollock
Aaron Thomason
Zafar Gohar - a 24 year old Pakistani (playing an ODI for them - against England in 2015) Left Arm spinner, who has already taken 106 first class wickets.

So, Lamb and Mellor are playing for the Seconds, they won't be in the First Team squad for the Hampshire match (TA must be fit again to keep wicket).  Norwell and Thomason making their way back now.  Lets also hope Pollock can get some scores in the red ball game.

Yes, interesting!  The elusive Mr Norwell, who hasn't bowled a ball in anger since last July, at last may get to turn his arm over.  And they haven't given up on Milnes yet.  This must be the longest trial since O. J. Simpson.
Views on here are my own; but you can keep up-to-date with County Cricket at http://deepextracover.com/

57 NO today.  He might get a contract as a batsman, rather than a bowler !  Other scores:-

Pollock - 33
Oxley - 0
Mousley - 97 (shame, just missing out)
Lamb - 77
Thomason - 5
Mellor - 45
Zafar - 0
Norwell - 19

Declaring on 362 for 8.

Opening the bowling now.

At the close, Kent were 29 for 3:-

Norwell: 4 - 7 - 1
Milnes: 5 - 9 - 2

We won by just 35 runs.  Kent got 235 for 7 in their first innings (2 wickets for Norwell, Milnes & Hughes, 1 for Cox).  We got 233 all out in our Second innings (50's for Oxley and Captain Thomason).  Kent were going for it - and were on 302 for 5 at one point (chasing 361) - but 5 wickets for Cox (taking 5 for 51 off 11 overs), 3 for Norwell and 1 each for Milnes & Zafir, got them out for 325 !

Obviously, Mousley, Lamb, Oxley and Thomason were the stand out batsman; Cox and Norwell the stand out bowlers.  I would think Lamb, Thomason and Norwell will be pushing for a first team call up soon ?  Zafar didn't get much joy, but apparently the wicket didn't help his spin (he did bowl tidily, just didn't threaten much).  I'm sure he will get another Seconds chance.

5 for 51 in 11 overs in Kents' second innings (he demolished their middle order and tail end batting, when they were set to win) - I'd love to find out a bit more about him !  Any info out there ?
