Gordon Banks
#1
I know this is a cricket forum but sad to hear of the death of Gordon Banks today. What a goalkeeper and gentleman he was.
Always be remembered for the save against Pele.

Yes footballers of that generation just seem far better people. Maybe money is the root of all evil. Banks englands greatest ever keeper. Hes remembered for thar save against pele. Seaman is rembered for that mistake against ronladinho, shilton for the mistake against poland. Remember a save he made against hurst in the league cup for stoke. Unbelievable.

Paul, I think you are right too much money and that in turn leads to the players being isolated from their fans. They all live well away from their fans because they are able to afford to live in multi million pound mansions.

You may be right that money is the problem; but I would like to think that, even if Gordon Banks had been rewarded for his achievements by becoming incredibly wealthy, he would still have been a good and decent human being.
