The oft quoted comment that winning the 2nd div is only really coming 9th annoys me. In football we never hear of the winners of the Championship being described as coming 21st!

So COYB beat Kent and let's finish the season Number One in the 2nd Division.

Will we be quietly asked to rest Olly Stone - so that he is fit for Sri Lanka??

Would have taken 129/9 at 10.30am.

Excellent start. Now the equation is simple - get to 200 and draw the match and we're champions!

Another 100 opening partnership. Well done boys, their turnaround in form has been quite something

Quite unbelievable especially on the same day Kent were dismissed without a batting point!

Managed to get down after lunch. Great bowling and this opening partnership is outstanding. Wonderful cricket all round from the Bears.

Steady on, chaps. You've got to give Trotty chance to score a hundred too.

Apart from their last wicket partnership, could that possibly have gone any better for us? Terrific bowling from all and Rhodes set off like a train and just carried on. It's amazing with our openers, the way one of them takes charge and the other just lets them get on with it and doesn't feel the need to keep up. Always a good understanding of the situation. Just make sure they don't put on 500 and leave the number 4 with nothing to do. Great day and surprisingly warm, brought 4 layers and went down to 1 for most of the day.

Yes, a dominating day for the Bears:

According to the BBC report, we are the only county to have gained maximum bowling points from every game. That’s quite an achievement!

A bit worrying from George Dobell's report that apparently Barker is likely to leave. Also, was it common knowledge that Sunny Singh is being released? And who is Rob Yates?

Still can't get my head around Kent deciding to bat first; not our concern however!

I would be gutted if he did leave; losing him and Trott wouldn't be the best way to prepare for life in Division 1

I was also extremely worried by the news on Barker, he has been absolutely superb this season, not sure who else we think will be able to do the job he does for the money I am guessing he is being paid. With Wright leaving, which I believe was the right (no pun) call as he isn't quite at the standard he was, we need to retain our remaining senior bowlers.

I believe a first division (for now) county has offered Keith a longer contract as with Wright(Leicester bound ) and Clarke last season

As I understand it, the Barker situation is still unresolved and there may be more discussions that could lead to him staying - but I'm not holding my breath.
With Wright going and both Stone and Woakes possibly playing for England in addition to being injury-prone, let's hope that Henry Brookes makes a full recovery.
