Northants at Edgbaston
#21
Here's my report of the day:
http://deepextracover.com/2018/05/finely...econd-day/
With so much variation in bounce, I reckon that if Northants could set a target of 200, it would be quite tricky.
One way or the other, it looks like there will be a result tomorrow unless the weather intervenes.
Olly Stone - he quick!

I'm going to try and make the trip up from Reading tomorrow for the first time this season. Hopefully I'll see a positive result!

Proves again the beauty of proper cricket, what a pity the ecb have pulled the plug on it for a month!!

Got them out for a decent score, need the batsmen to do their part now!

Sibley is really disappointing me

Good bowling by Northants but poor shot from Sibley. Excellent game of cricket.

Echo that, as an advert for the longer format this has been quite brilliant.

Certainly beats Lancashire bowling Notts out for 150 twice.

I too am concerned about Sibley, I know he scored big in the seconds but has he got a decent score for the first team since his move? I really hope once he gets the big score he can kick on because it’s not working out for him or us yet!

A wonderful innings by Rhodes, and a very pleasant first visit to Edgbaston this season for me. Sibley has been disappointing so far this season but didn't he hold one of our innings together towards the end of last season? He was also useful in one day cricket I seem to recall.

A maiden first class hundred, I believe. The KoS took a flier in going for Rhodes and it's nice to see that it may be coming good. If he could take a few wickets now we would be very happy.

Sibley's an enigma. He made a monster score for Surrey, I think while he was still at school. Then didn't follow it up with much, which is why they weren't too sad to trade him for Rikki Clarke. There's clearly potential and he must have some presence if they've made him vice-captain. Time will tell but we do have options.....

I was really impressed with Rhodes today, I especially liked the way he paced his innings. Hopefully this will give him a bit of confidence and a few more hundreds will follow.

Overall a brilliant day in the sun at edgbaston, it’s just a pity we have to wait a while for the next championship game.

Difficult to disagree with anything that has been written above; I was concerned at the start of the season that there would be a hangover from last year but credit to all concerned, we have started brilliantly. I am particularly pleased that, by and large, the glory is being shared around; a number of batsmen have been in the runs and there have been several notable bowling performances so far.

I just hope we can carry it on after the break.

The shot Sibley played was the shot of a man with a scrambled mind. With Banks and Umeed we do indeed have options too.

Fabulous from Rhodes today, he looks very organised, even when he hasn't made runs he's looked good so to speak.

Credit to Lamb too, he struggled early on and if he got out quickly this could have been a very different outcome, he grafted though.

Trott decision looked a bit iffy i thought?

With Sussex's defeat against Kent today, we're now the only unbeaten team in Division 2.

No mention from Warleybear of Leicestershire's fine win yet he's quick to point out their defeats, it's only 5weeks in and already 2wins for the triumvirate
