Kevin Pietersen

It appears that Kevin Pietersen has announced his retirement.

Despite his ego, to put it diplomatically, sometimes causing issues, his talent was undoubted. His 186 at Mumbai on a pitch that was turning square (England's spinners took 19 wickets in the match! That doesn't happen very often...) remains one of the best innings I have ever seen.

Ultimately however, I got the impression he only ever played for one team; Team Pietersen.
Bears fan, Wolves fan, blood red Socialist, a not so vital statistician; what a collection...

The only problem with his retirement is that I fear that he will become yet another ex-player with a rampant ego haunting commentary boxes around the world.

My opinion of Pietersen changed slightly on reading Trotty's autobiography, as it seems they got on quite well with each other for most of the time. I still don't like him though!
