Steve Rhodes

This seems very sad and maybe a bit harsh:

Whoever replaces him will inherit a good batch of home-grown players.

....and for CEO, will they go for the man with the cricketing pedigree or the businessman?

While I have some sympathy for Rhodes you just can't keep something like that hidden from your employers for 7 months and expect them to be pleased.

Yes, having said that the decision was a bit harsh, I agree that hiding the situation for 7 months was totally unacceptable.
I wonder what the causes were of the problems between Rhodes and the Chief Executive who is leaving - George's phrase in his article that "the pair are not close" probably hides a bigger story.
If Rhodes has done as good a job with developing the squad as seems to be the case and if his 32 years of service to the Club were otherwise unblemished, I think I would have been inclined to give him a final written warning, not just for his own sake but because coaches of his calibre are hard to find.  It may be that both he and the Club will be the losers in this.
Of course, we only have part of the story and there may be other factors that came into play.

Surely throughout the seven months the player concerned was innocent until proven guilty. Is that not a good reason for keeping the matter private
