Yorks v Warwickshire
#1
Preview:-

https://warwickshireccc.com/news/preview...ship-2017/

Very interesting that Ash says that the team won't be announced until the toss - is he hiding something up his sleeve, or does he want to avoid any more flak from Bearsfans !

It's also interesting that the Preview says that Hose wasn't allowed to play at all in the Championship this season.  I thought the 'Gentlemens Agreement' was that he couldn't play until Somerset were "out of danger of relegation" / well clear of us - I think that's happened now !?

It would be in Somerset's interests for Warwickshire to field the strongest team possible against Yorkshire.  We'll have to see what emerges tomorrow.

I agree (and I said in the Essex thread, that I thought he would play against Yorkshire) - that's why I'm so surprised that the Preview says he can't play in the CC this season.

It doesn't look as if the two Ryan Sidebottoms will oppose each other:

Kraigg Brathwaite looks like an interesting addition to the Yorkshire team.

Am I missing something? The article says that Javid is leaving at the end of the season and then names him in the squad.
I see that Hain was given one game as an opener against the Champions and then ditched again. For his own sake he needs to move on.
And is Bell's torture really to continue? Better to have him back refreshed in May.

Ashley says in his interview "let's start planning for next year now" but it's odd to start building for the future by including in the squad someone who is being released to go elsewhere.
It would have made more sense for him to be sent to Leicestershire on loan before his permanent move next season.  Maybe there is some reason and method there but it is hard to see.

When I posted that Preview (at 10.42 this morning), there was no mention of any squad composition - it just said that the team would be announced at the toss.  The Preview now lists a squad make up which seems really bizarre.  A combination of totally untried Second Team players (in any form of the game this season), like Thomson and Banks, with all the old faces who have failed - and Javid who will be gone in a couple of weeks.  Surely they will have done better to include the rising stars like Pollock, Thornton and Singh, or people who have been totally forgotten like Poysden.

He is normally coming in very few for one, his form has dipped but he and the tail enders have carried what passes for a batting line up all season.

That's the thing, in the car crash of the season he has been the sole batsman who has scored, but it seems the turmoil has affected him now too!

34 for 4 now - Banks and Lamb out now.  It's all going swimmingly AGAIN, isn't it !?  AND we won the toss !

Why change the habit of a season I guess. No point glossing over it, may as well have another abject failure and maybe we will then finally see a shake up behind the scenes, bring in some coaches actually worth their salt and attempt to become a decent side again instead of the closed shop, old boys network we currently have going on.

Troughton as head coach, nope. Richardson as bowling coach, nope. Frost as batting coach, nope.

49 for 6 now !  Only Bell seems to have any 'stickability' (well, at least today !).

The sooner this season is over, the better !

Not sure I follow your logic. Assuming they get a decent first innings score then another innings defeat looks inevitable. Probably inside two days.

There's a danger of Bell running out of partners before he reaches his century

You're right EiK, I haven't got my Cricket brain on today - just my 'Bears disaster' brain !

So another two new names added to the slaughter today !! Same template crawling at around 2 an over waiting for the inevitable to happen !! Surely playing the likes of pollock and thomasen would be a better option two players who play with no fear !! Looks like xmas has come early for the white rose county !!
