Presumably, he's come as Rikki C's replacement - as and when he retires.  A promising young all rounder who bats in the middle order (averaging 27 in First Class matches) and bowls seam (averaging 33).  And 14 years younger !

Welcome Will. If in a few years he has managed to swap those bowling and batting averages, or perhaps even just improving his batting, around he'll have been a good acquisition. Plenty of time to improve.

I saw him bat at Taunton last year when he came in at number 3. Didn't do much but clearly he is a work in progress. I wonder if we think he could be an opener?

I think that taking him on is a positive step although if I were Ateeq Javid or even Mark Adair I might wonder why he is apparently being offered assurances about a first team place.

Yes, when I spoke to him@members 'nets I was impressed he seems like a nice guy - really hope he succeeds in first class cricket
