Zimbabwe v Ireland October 2015
#1
Zimbabwe are hosting Ireland for a three game ODI series.

The home side winning the first game by two wickets with an over to spare.

Leading scorers for Ireland were Gary Wilson, 70*, and Ed Joyce, 53. For Zim, Craig Ervine & Skanda Raza both scored 60.

The difference in the time taken for both innings is interesting, with Zim bowling their full 50 overs in just 202 minutes, 8 minutes insider the 210 allowed, while the Ireland team took 214 minutes to bowl just 49 overs.

Thanks, Mugabe. It looks like an interesting mini-series.
As an aside, I am surprised that, so far, no county had snapped up George Dockrell who has been released by Somerset.  He has played in over 80 international matches for Ireland and has a pretty good record; and he's only 23.

There is a lot of good and interesting cricket played around the world, as long as people are prepared to look beyond the obvious.

One point from the match report, as all the games are played at the, overused, Harare sports club, the wicket will get slower and lower throughout the series.

As for George Dockrell, there may be counties interested, but perhaps the player and counties have different ideas on his value. There is also the issue of availability, as Ireland looks to expand its program of matches it reduces the availability, and hence value, of their players to a county.

I agree that the Irish connection obviously reduces availability.  We all know how much we miss William Porterfield when he's not available.  But players like Porterfield and Dockrell are on Irish central contracts so presumably their county pay is reduced accordingly.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Zimbabwe take a 2-0 lead and win the series after a very comfortable 5 wicket victory in the second game

The batting figures from the series are interesting, with Gary Wilson, Paul Stirling, Niall O'Brien and Ed Joyce having good series with the bat for Ireland.
