Scotland started the tournament with a very comfortable 9 wicket victory over UAE, with ten overs spare. This morning Ireland beat Namibia by 7 wickets, with two overs left, and the Canda v Kenya game is looking likely to be a Canadian victory.

Very good performance by the Netherlands yesterday morning, beating Scotland, & another very comfortable victory over UAE this morning.

Possible upset in the mornings other game, where Ireland are struggling against the USA.

In the end, an easy win for Ireland with USA being bowled out well within their 20 overs

Always thought it should be in commonwealth games and perhaps even the Olympics.... Especially if tennis is. If the test nations had to use under 23s it would be good. It would be great for countries who often can't compete in track and field.

Big shock this morning with Oman beating Afghanistan very comfortably, and a smaller shock with PNG comfortably beating Ireland.

This is actually an interesting tournament, despite the wide gaps in the ability of the competing teams.

It is actually enjoyable to watch the games played on what are just local club grounds, with small, but very enthusiastic crowds.

Overall the quality of the teams is poor, many teams would struggle over a full season in the top divisions Birmingham league, but it is good to see the game developing in non test countries.

Bob Willis might say it was a match losing innings but I guess when nobody else contributed more than 13 that would be harsh. Mind you what a poor result for Ireland.

i wasn't even aware papua new guinea played cricket

They have progressed pretty well and now have full ODI status as well as their T20 credentials.  It's got to be better than headhunting.

As GOJ is now based in Bristol, perhaps he could use you to practise his skills.

I'm more than happy to bat while he keeps wicket - but not much gets past me.

I was thinking more of the hunting with GOJ doing the hunting :-)

Did you see Jones keep wicket the other day on tv. He was brilliant. Took one stumping which Butler would have not got near. I don't think he was as bad as people make out. He just went for everything. But when you see him standing up to spinners you see the difference in quality to what Prior and Buttler are.

That just shows how bad the standards of current wicket keepers are, when their ability with a bit is considered to be more important than their primary role.

Thanks for pointing that out to me, Paul.  I was going to say to Mugabe that Jones could headhunt me because he'd probably drop the machete at a crucial moment.
It did remind me of one of Peter Tinniswood's Tales from a Long Room about a game in the Belgian Congo that involved the use of a shrunken human head as a cricket ball.  I wish I could find my copy of either the book or the tape.
