World Cup
Interestingly we have 10 current and former Warwickshire players participating in the tournament, & apart from Callum, all have done pretty well.

The star has to be Kumar, who is playing as well as ever and is the star player of the tournament.
While Robert may be bad, Robert is not all Mugabe's.

Wow, England win a game, hopefully the last we will see of several of the players in an England squad.

To move forward we need players and a captain who are totally committed to the England team, not to playing IPL and are not citizens of other countries.

makes you wonder how we got double relegation 2007 with the best batsman in the world and the best fast bowler in the world in our team for much of the season.

Well, like the current England side, the coach wasn't 'fit for purpose', is the short answer.

To expand the point, successful coaches adapt their methods to deliver the guidance and assistance needed for each player so that it is delivered in a way that gets the most from that individual, as well as creating a positive, supportive team environment, so that players perform free of the 'fear of failure'.

You just have to look at the work of Bob Woolmer, Dave Brailsford & Sir Clive Woodward to see what can be achieved.

There needs to a route and branch cull of the squad and a major overhaul of the county structure. It is not fit for purpose. .. the game in this country is now in a very poor state.

I'd be all for an ipl type tournament here. I think the 4 day structure is fine but we don't get the best players around the world playing in our t20 so it needs to be changed with live terrestrial coverage.

We need to keep the 16 game two division championship format played throughout the season and promote it as "Real Cricket".
The fifty over competition needs to be played from June onwards with England players involved.

The season must not be dominated by nor designed around a 20 over slog competition. it might be a viable idea to have 2 short not longer than two week blocks for 20 over slog cricket during the season but having changed the format of the english season to have a season long 20 over slog competition, it would be sensible to allow more than one season to see if that is a sustainable and successful format.

11 clubs in a super league after some reorganisation. 5 cc games at home and 5 away. play once...... 40 over or 50 over cricket league throughout the summer (50 over will be gone in 5 years at international level so lets get ready now). Two T20 competitions .... an Fa cup style and a 'big bash' in high summer. Major change is sadly on the way after this winters debacle... not sure in what form... but Sky etal will demand it....

Where the ECB and Team England are going wrong is by not using the excellent standard WITHIN county cricket to its benefit. Ditch the Lions games, structure the season so there is a 4 day game + a one day game per week, start all Tests on a Thursday and play all the ODI's in a block of about 9 days before the main Test series instead of over 3 and a half weeks in September. Focus the international season a little more instead of it being bloated like it is currently, and give the County Season more room to breathe, enable the top players to perform FOR THEIR COUNTIES. Bell, Anderson etc should have played 6 or 7 County Championship games + 5 or 6 50-over games last season. The standard is good. ECB need to allow the England players to experience it instead of cocooning them within team England.

County championship cricket is so good at the moment precisely because it is the form of the game that has LEAST been interfered with by Sky. They would prefer it to be groups instead of divisions leading to play off's in September so that Surrey/Hants would always be in with a shout.

The International "season" is so long and congested an out of form player has only the nets to sort out any problems. Your proposal MB would allow the England players a chance to recover their form in the CC and one day games - much more beneficial than the artificial surroundings of the nets.

In my opinion, the very last thing county cricket needs is yet another overhaul!

I'm not sure what overhauls we've had..... The change to 50 overs from 40? The introduction of a two division championship? T20? The admission of Durham? The international team needs to start performing and reverse its terrible one day performances or Sky will demand a big change and their mates in the corridors of power will act. England players must play more domestic cricket. For example... T20 has revolutionised the way batsmen perform... so how many in the England one day set up regularly play domestic T20? Change is coming.... Those who pay the £££££££s will sadly demand it.

Very professional and efficient performance from South Africa today against a strangely off form Sri Lanka.
It was good to see Quinton De Kock finally find some form with the bat, he could well play a key role for SA in the last two games.

Also, very sad that this was the last ODI appearance for Kumar, he is still one of the worlds best batsman, and a quality person. Hopefully he will go onto a successful career when he finally retires from playing, we need more good people like him running out sport, and indeed countries.

Has there been any analysis on how one sided many of the games have been in this world cup? Seems to have been a lot of plus 100 runs/ 7 wicket victories? Not sure why?
