Can't say I'm surprised and perhaps it is for the best for Trotty - he has no need to rush back to the top.

Strangely, no.  Seven Yorkshiremen.

Yes doubt whether Rankin will make the final squad

I would start with 1 COOK 2 ALI 3 HALES 4 ROOT 5 MORGAN 6 BOPARA 7 BUTLER 8 WOAKES 9 BROAD 10 TREDWELL 11 ANDERSON. I don't agree with Cook being in the team, and if he wasn't I would play Bell instead, with Morgan as captain. If they only went with Ali as the spinner I would be brave, and pick Rankin, and yes I know I am probably in the minority of one on that selection. I will just throw one more left field selection out their if we are feeling even more brave, how about Jason Roy instead of Root. OK I am being stupid now just me wanting to play a really positive team.

Yes I can't see them picking two spinners in Australia so think maybe Jordon will play and I would have Taylor ahead of Hales as I think he has more versatility. Hales is a bit one dimensional.

So far this tour, Hales has failed with the bat & is almost a liability in the field.
As Paul said, he is one dimentional as a batsman, with poor consistency.
I'd prefer Bell in the side, and if Cook is missing, would have Bell as captain.
While Robert may be bad, Robert is not all Mugabe's.
There are GOOD Mugabe's
It is Warwickshire County Cricket Club!

not forgetting how he ran moeen out when he was on 58 as well. I think Bell should concentrate on his test career now. Make himself one of the great test batsmen!

Will the the England selectors be brave, and sack Cook. I hope so, but do not think they will.

Also how long will they put up with Hales and Morgan? When will Bell come back in to the side?

Listening to Downton on Ginger Evans this morning, the sacking of Cook seems unlikely

He gave that impression on sky as well. For a world cup you have to play your best team then pick the captain. Cook is not one of the best one day players. Test cricket yes. He has to be dropped.

Don't know why that's come out twice

It looks like Cook is gone as captain and therefore, presumably, as a player:

Glad his gone but did not think the selectors would be brave enough to do it.

Is it any better choosing Morgan as capt.?

Bell for captain, now

I think Morgan is more likely to make more match winning contributions than Cook. Bell to take Cooks place.

Morgan has struggled recently but as captain he averages about 73. He was the obvious short-term fix. The thing to consider if Morgan is at his best he's a match winner, Cook isn't. Bell or Hales to partner Moeen, I think they will give Hales a chance!

I can see why they didn't go for Bell as captain. I think you need to be in the team first and select the captain from the 11. I love Bell but even his greatest admirers would say that after 150 odis we need to look at other options.
