Check out Cricinfo for an interesting interview with Keith in which he says he would love to play for West Indies. I can't manage link because I'm in hospital getting a new hip. It's my second and I think I'll stop there!

So here's a Keith Barker quiz question.
In 2012, he played for his home club Enfield against East Lancs in a Worsley Cup match. What was unusual about the match and Keith's participation in it?

I've just turned up the scorecard and it was a 50 over game that lasted 12 days! Keith caught the first East Lancs batsman but didn't bowl and is marked in the Enfield scorecard as "absent". I'm guessing he was available for the original scheduled day but not for any of the reserve days.

Good luck with the hip, Terry. I do know people who have had more than two replacements!

Hi Grizzly.
I knew I could rely on you for the answer!
Yes, the match actually finished 33 days after it started, on the 12th scheduled playing day and the fifth actual day of play.  The match started at East Lancs and ended on the Enfield ground after a venue switch.  As you say, Keith took an early catch but when play was abandoned for the day after four overs, he had to leave and no replacement was allowed.
As for the hip, I'm limping around with a stick, a bit like Sam Neill's character in Peaky Blinders, though maybe a bit less evil, bitter and twisted.

I've been banging on for ages about Keith not getting international recognition.  I'm glad a few more people are joining in.

Interview with Keith Barker here:

I thought Keith looked a bit less than fir at the start of last season so if he is in top condition now, that will be a big plus. Although there are a few young bowlers coming through, Keith's all-round skills will be invaluable if he can hit top form.
