Global Warming
Emboldened by these comments, I've just been on to my car insurance company and got my renewal quote reduced by over 40%.

When I was working, one of the basic principles adopted by the marketing people was that you treat your existing customers well because they are your best prospects of future business. The current philosophy of treating the existing customers like sh*te is typical of a short term outlook. You may be able to squeeze a few years of increased profits but in the long run you may have no business left at all. I wonder if the ECB have been talking to the same advisors.

These companies need to realise existing business is the bread and new clients are the jam. And it's hard to eat jam without the bread. Still, my view is - play 'em at the same game - loyalty, what loyalty!!

And with cashback sites like Quidco, switching provider can be an even greater money saver - a quick search on Quidco shows that you can get between £50 and £100 cash for switching energy/insurance provider!

More medical care is reaching 3rd world countries meaning they will live longer with fewer child deaths etc. The more we find cures for deceases the life expectancy increases throughout the world - look how life expectancy in UK has increased in just the past 50 years.

Sorry for the slow response.  Hans Rosling describes it most clearly for me: http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_on...ion_growth
