I think Freddie Coleman has scored more international runs this season.

Hopefully Freddie will be given a chance in the first team when the season starts.

They did win the game and a great win it was for them too.

You have to really feel for him

His last ten scores are

4, 24, 4, 3, 25, 0, 1, 34, 27, 7

Total 129 @ 12.9

Not the pattern of scores you'd want, or expect, from a specialist batsman.

Of more relevance to Warwickshire would be his last ten scores in first class games, and to put his performance into context, the total innings score & how many we're scored while he was batting.

It is often necessary to look beyond the headline figures to get true understanding.

In the latest game, http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/cu...02143.html, he contributed 5 off 18 balls.

this improves his 'lest ten innings' average to 13.00 (130/10)

To be fair, must have been a funny old pitch - 96 plays 85.

Bad wicket, or two poor sides playing badly?

The Cricinfo report suggests poor batting, good bowling, good fielding and a slow pitch with variable bounce, so a bit of everything:

It seems like Porterfield starred in the field and with his captaincy, which makes it doubly sad that he isn't succeeding with the bat.

Not including out two world class batsmen then, if the others are fit, surely our top 5 in cc must be.....

Chopra; Westy; Evans; Jim; Javid

In one dayers Westy will I assume not be included.

All fingers and toes crossed for Jim's fitness, though.

As Jim will be missing for at least two months, been optimistic, I hope that a fair chance is given to one or more of our young batsmen.

hopefully either or both of our two world class batsmen could get a few games, if fit and available.
