Trotty!

Up there with the great Dennis Amiss for me.

I've set out my thoughts about Trotty, "borrowing" a couple of comments from this forum and also invoking the spirit of our good friend Kim Jones.  I hope he wouldn't have disapproved:

Well said Terry.

What do other posters here think about the idea of those of us who have enjoyed Trotty's career clubbing together to make a small gift of thanks to him at the end of the season?
Not sure how we would organise it but would be interested to know what people think.

It's a very nice idea Terry and I'm sure many of us understand the sentiments but I'm not sure a token gift adds much to what has already been expressed here. As you suggest, the logistics would also be a challenge.

I suspect we can rely on Stingray to have the oven on at the appropriate time to bake him a cake. I'll have a piece.

Yes a lovely idea Terry. Passing the buck, I know, but if someone can sort out the logistics count me in. If someone can arrange contribution by plastic it would make it very easy to cough up.

I agree, I think it’s a lovely idea. I’m happy to co-ordinate & make a cake!

Trotty has joined Kent as one-day coach:

I'd like to think that at some point a role for him could be found at Warwickshire.

He was on the outfield this morning in Kent colours. I could have cried.

That news is SO disappointing.  I can't believe that we made Frosty full time Batting Coach, when JT was potentially available.  I hope it's a decision (the last big one Ash made ?) that we won't come to regret !

Giles made some poor decisions and I cannot believe some people still held him up as some sort 'Prodigal Son' when he came back to us from his failure in the England set up. He has gone again and I hope if/when his current job becomes too much, he doesn't want to come back and thinks he can just put his feet under the table. They should have had Trott rubber stamped for a place of some sort in the management/coaching side of things, perhaps teaching the younger players how to build an innings like he used to do.

Is this why you have moved your affections to Henry Heart Tongue
