Trotty!
Interesting extract from an article on Trotty due to appear in All Out Cricket on the Edgbaston site - and that's why he's my favourite player - private, non-publicity seeking and just wants to let his cricket do the talking. The day he appears in 'Hello' magazine is the day the world ends! He's an old fashioned cricketer, not a celebrity.

Henry Blofeld reckons he could be the player of the winter in Australia. I hope he is - he just needs a break from cricket and a good rest altho' with birth of first child due this week, a rest might be wishful thinking!

He probably won't be doing this either:

Dont think we will be playing Pakistan at home for a while................. well I certainly wont be buying a ticket. This is all a result of letting the scherard go on after the 'spot fixing test'........ I'm not even sure if I believed the 3-2 ODI series result. International Cricket is sadly becoming a laughing stock this summer :(

Shame all this nonsense, its ruining things. Lets hope it all calms down, don't want any of our players interviewed by police.

Whilst I have obviously no idea what the asterisks could possibly stand for, I think that maybe JT should leave the Mr. Angry act to Stuart Broad and concentrate on what he does best:

What is wrong with Trotty, I agree with Terry, he needs to stick to playing cricket and not get involved with specatators or other players.

I don't disagree with you Terry but I also can't abide spectators who think it's ok to bait and abuse players - from behind the safety of their mates and the fence.

I think thats a good point. Trotty obviously shouldnt do it but you cant 100% blame him for cracking a bit and having a go. Hes had the media on his back all summer, has been a target for Pakistani verbals, so doesnt really need more abuse from his own supporters. Have to admit part of me likes it when players call out spectators. I can remember Trevor Morley at West Ham (who was part cart horse to be fair) reacting to a comment when signing autographs outside Upton Park; his stare was enough to terrify the yob having a go who went from "big man with the mouth" to "obviously scared and embarrassed dweeb" within about 15 seconds.

Reckon Trotty's wrong but right, if that makes sense.

Spectators shouting abuse or sarcasm at players have gone on for many years now - not saying I agree with it but its the way you deal with it and I just dont think retorting back with "asterisks" is the correct way - Obviously hes under a lot of pressure and the specatator is an idiot but if he'd of just responded with some sarcasm back like Dominic Cork would then that would be the better way of doing it - imo...

Anyway I wish him all he best for the ashes. I'm sure hes going to have a great series and hope he doesnt get involved with anything with the aussie supporters because I'm sure hes going to get a lot more than that...

I thought JT was human like the rest of us. Why should he be any more capable of restraining himself than the rest of us. If I've read the asterisks correctly then it sounds like he gave a very accurate description of the idiot.

Would you still think the same if it was KP? Please be honest...

Probably not - !!!!!!!!!!! But then I read that KP is the only contracted player not driving a Jaguar provided by the England sponsors. The reason ....... he wanted his initials embossed on the leather seats!!

Actually if KP or anyone else is getting abuse while fielding then I do think we have to accept there will be occasions when they will retaliate. KP is, after all, also human....just.

Theres abuse and theres abuse though isnt there. Allegedly this bloke said "Trott, well batted yesterday. Kept me entertained all day'!" which is just a bit of sarcasm, so I dont think that JT should have responded in the way he allegedy did. I think he over-reacted... Now If it was the type pf abuse that Jimmy Anyon got 2/3 years ago in a pro40 game against Lancs then I think hes got every right to bop the guy.

Good point about Jimmy - unfortunately I still remember that incident.

Anyway at the end of the day - Trott plays for us so will always be the good guy.

KP plays for...er...er...er KP so would not gey my sympathy.
