So who won the first day then.
For me it was pretty even. Aussies maybe shade it. KP annoyed me with the manner in which he got out. To be a great player he cannot do that. But then Cook, Strauss and Ravi should not be exempt from criticism as they got in and out.

Evens, i think 350 (which they should reach) will be a competitive total and the pitch might turn well on the latter stages.

Evens for me as well. But a nightwatchman to protect the number 8???
Prior batted beautifully I thought. Hauritz wasnt terrible either.

Even stevens but again a dodgy and unecessary shot from you know who!!
Great to hear the Barmy Army at the first test for a change with 200 of them together.
350 quoted as the par score on this wicket...roll on tomorrow.
I'm a horrid bint.....apparently!

IMHO England totally dominated day one.
My view was win the toss - bat first and get over 360. About 100 over par at the SWALEC. Bowl the Ausies for less than 160 and make them follow on. The spinners finishing the match off late on Friday evening with England going 1-0 up on their way to a 2-0 victory.
A first day that totally went Englands way - runs on the board in South Wales WILL count.

Are you hoping, Warley, that this will result in someone offering to give you their ticket for Saturday?

It only goes to prove the old adage about the difference between the Australian nation and a saucer of milk - if you leave the saucer of milk long enough, it's bound to develop a culture.

You have to admire Mr. Branson's talent for self-promotion:

Yeah. A lot of time left. But maybe not if we get the predicted forecasts.
